Since 2002 Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue's founders have taken an active leadership role in helping turn Palm Beach County into a no-kill county, by saving the lives of over 25,000 animals. (Currently, only 22 of Florida’s 67 counties have achieved no-kill shelter status.) During this time, we have relied mostly on our foster volunteers to fulfill our mission, but we are now laying the groundwork for our next big phase and we’re asking for your help.
Our vision is to build a shelter to serve as the hub of our foster and adoption efforts. This new facility will serve as a transitional home for animals while they await their forever homes. Additionally, the building will be used for summer camp for animal loving kids, dog training classes, fundraising events, adopter gatherings, and a retirement home for some of our senior dogs.
We are currently seeking $1.5M for our Build-a-Shelter drive. This money will be earmarked for securing the land and building construction. To date, we have raised over $100,000 from hosting events and generous donors for our Build-a-Shelter effort. Our plan, in addition to reaching out to individual donors such as yourself, includes continued fundraising through our signature events, public and private grants, and working with school organizations committed to animal welfare. We are also seeking new private and business partnerships; if any of these ideas interest you please contact us. Given your continued interest and involvement with us and rescued animals, we invite you to support our efforts to Build-a-Shelter, moving us ever closer to zero-kill status.
Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 with a mission to rescue pregnant, nursing, and orphaned dogs and cats, as well as those with medical needs that may mean a death sentence in other shelters. Whenever possible, we answer the urgent calls to save a life. Beyond rescue, our veterinarians and staff have performed free vaccine clinics and low-cost spay and neuters in economically disadvantaged communities in Florida in an effort to prevent unwanted pet pregnancies and help keep pets healthy.
Currently, our biggest limitation isn’t our capacity to care, but our physical capacity. Your donation will make a difference and turn the vision into a reality for the animals.

The easiest and most direct way of supporting our Build-a-Shelter fund is a gift of cash using Zelle, Venmo, or Network for Good.
Recognizing that many caring people may not have the capacity to make a sizable gift at any one time, Justin Bartlett suggests the alternative of making a smaller gift on a monthly basis.
Avoid capital gains through a gift of highly appreciated stock while taking a full value deduction on your tax returns.
Many corporate employers will match their employees’ gifts to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. If your company has such a program, please request their matching gift form and send the completed form to us. We will take care of the rest.
